Whether it’s finding a way to help manage a chronic condition, recovering after an illness or injury, or regaining functionality and independence after another medical event, we are here for you.   
Physical Therapy
​Our physical therapy department prides itself on providing personalized, one-on-one service that is focused on achieving patient goals. Physical therapy works to decrease pain and restore normal movement patterns to allow for optimal function in daily life. You will receive evidenced based treatments from the same therapist every visit for the best continuity of care. The rehab services team at GCHD sees both inpatients and outpatients while working closely with other hospital staff and healthcare providers. 

 We treat patients for a variety of conditions, including:
  • Pre/post-operative care
  • Musculoskeletal dysfunction
    • Low back pain
    • Arthritis
    • Weakness
  • Balance issues
  • Vestibular dysfunction/vertigo
  • Cardiovascular rehabilitation
  • Sports therapy

Occupational Therapy
​Occupational therapy helps individuals regain or develop skills essential for independent living. Our goal is to assist patients in learning or redeveloping skills for day-to-day living.

Individuals who may be referred to occupational therapy may have diagnoses such as: 
  • Hand, shoulder or arm conditions or injuries
  • Arthritis
  • Cancer
  • Lymphedema
  • Parkinson’s disease, post-stroke or other neurologic conditions
  • Work-related injuries
  • Developmental disabilities
  • Total joint replacements
  • Head injuries
  • Spinal cord injuries
Treatments may include:
  • Use of adaptive equipment
  • Strengthening
  • Palliative modalities
  • Edema control
  • Fine motor coordination
  • Cognitive/perceptual training
  • Sensory re-education
  • Homemaking/ survival skills

Speech Therapy
Speech Therapy is a multi-faceted aspect of rehabilitation. It is designed to help individuals with speech or swallowing problems as well as cognitive problems. Persons may be referred to speech therapy for the following diagnoses:
  • Stroke
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Swallowing/eating difficulties
  • Other neurological conditions affecting cognition
