As an inpatient, you are under the care of our exceptional doctors, nurses and additional health care professionals at Garfield County Hospital District (GCHD). This team is tailored to each patient’s needs depending on the severity and type of injury or illness, giving you personalized and compassionate care.
At GCHD, we understand that some patients need skilled services before safely returning to their homes after hospitalization from a major illness or surgery, and swing bed services provide a practical alternative to a skilled care facility. Through our services, patients receive exceptional skilled care to maximize their health and rehabilitation so they can return home.
Observation is a special service that allows you to be in the hospital for a short time to evaluate or treat your symptoms. An observation stay may be beneficial to a patient who is experiencing:
- Nausea and/or vomiting
- Stomach pain
- Difficulty breathing
- Chest pain
- Delayed recovery from an outpatient surgical procedure
- Admitted as an inpatient
- Transferred to another hospital or medical facility
- Discharged back home
Another part of the inpatient care team is social services. GCHD has a social worker available to help patients and/or family with social, emotional and financial concerns related to a hospital stay, rehabilitation or long-term care. The social worker is also able to provide information about community services that are available upon discharge.
